Amended Operational Policies Safeguarding Against COVID-19 • Updated November 2022

All household members to enrolled students and visitors must show proof of full vaccination or be willing to test negative for C19 twice weekly to attend our program.

cleaning & sanitizing:
• thorough and detailed cleaning of entire facility before re-opening and throughout operation of facility shall be conducted
• hand sanitizers shall be available to adults
• frequent hand washing of all as often as possible shall be encouraged
• sanitize high-touch surfaces
• extra deep cleaning
• cleaning/sanitizing of restrooms and diaper changing areas shall be conducted
• stagger meals and playtimes
• routine cleaning of outdoor areas
• materials reserved for each child and identified/labeled to child/group
• a closed off area is reserved for any person exhibiting COVID-19 (sensory room)
• disinfectants are stored securely & safely
• individual cubbies are assigned to each child • all laundry and child’s personal dish-ware shall be sent home daily
• toys used will be disinfected regularly
• supplies/materials will be used by only one child or group of children

physical distancing:
• our adult to child ratio is 1:6 per group
• a primary Caregiver shall be assigned to one group regularly
​• child care groups of up to 6 children with one staff person has been established for a total number of up to 2 groups
• groups will include the same individuals daily
• groups will be distanced from one another by the use of multiple rooms assigned to the specific group regularly
• staggered schedules for outdoor spaces
• staggered schedules for group meal times
• staggered arrival & departure protocols (see prior parent handbook tab for details)
• seating and nap time shall be spaced out
• fields trips currently canceled
• circle time seating will be spaced out
• waiting in line will not be required of children
• no sharing of food or utensils will continue with closer monitoring

health & safety:
• daily temperatures will be administered
• daily visual well-checks will be conducted
• all employees must wear a face mask or face shield as much as possible throughout the day
• all adults (parents/visitors) must wear a mask or face shield when on site
• due to the ages of our enrolled children (under 36 months) children will not be required to wear a mask
• all employees are trained on the importance of CDC’s guidelines for proper cleanliness including COVID-19 symptom detection, common modes of COVID-19 transmission and how to prevent COVID-19
• no individual is allowed to enter the facility center if exposed to COVID-19
• sick policy including safeguarding from COVID-19 has been updated to our
parent handbook tab

facility safety:
• identification of each person who drops-off and/or picks-up child is noted onto child’s attendance record for the purposes of supporting contact tracing, if necessary
• ventilation systems operate properly and checked daily for safety
• water systems operate safely
• PPE supply is adequately on-hand
• safety protocols have been communicated with staff and is on-going throughout operation
• one room (sensory room) shall be designated for any individuals experiencing any flu-like symptoms or high temperatures, parent will be contacted for immediate pick-up

child & parent expectations:
• CDC signs have been posted for all on shared responsibilities
• primary communication method to educate all on the new protocols: email/text
along with updates posted to: EjbEducationalServices.com
• family emergency contact information will be updated regularly and/or as needed
• contact the Principal if you or your child have had contact with COVID-19 persons
• resources to address social-emotional and/or other needs are available upon request

employee support:
• staff meetings shall be conducted weekly or more often as needed
• designated staff person responsible for responding to COVID-19 concerns is your school’s Principal and can be reached: PiagetSchoolOfMaui@gmail.com
• sanitizing supplies and PPE equipment for staff shall be adequate
• a daily checklist of cleaning/sanitizing responsibilities shall be used by all staff
• all staff persons are aware of their leave benefit options and center policies
• all staff persons will be required to have the C19 vaccine administered once it becomes available

During this complex public health climate, we recommend travel occur during our seasonal breaks. (See HI-DOE’s official calendar & program handbook tab.)

Please continue to drop-off your child using our FRONT DOOR and please pick-up your child using our BACK DOOR, along with maintaining a 6-foot social distance from other persons. Kindly, keep drop-off goodbye! transition time to a minimum --
all safety issues considered.
